I started reading this book. It’s very interesting. I wanted to put my excerpts about the book with my opinion.

I started learning about Cirque du Soleil for the first time. By the same time, i understood the difference between Red Ocean and Blue Ocean for Businesses. In Red Ocean, companies enhance existing opportunities and make changes to them to compete in the market. But Blue Ocean companies pioneer in new market segments. I read some more about Cirque de Soleil and saw few performances. My first thought is to see them live very soon. The Blue Ocean stratemy didn’t strike me at all when i wanted to enter into Business at all. But after i read this, i realized that there is a huge potential or market space on the Blue Ocean side rather than me thinking all the time about Red Ocean business strategies.

Also, i read about yello tail. I am a pretty decent wine drinker. But i have a bad memory. I always get into a difficult mode to decide wines when i go out. After i read about yellow tail and their strategy, i was completely surprised and tried the wine right away. The fact of the matter is there are lots of ways you can tap into Blue Ocean Market space and it’s really changing my perspective of the market segements.

It’s still a difficult path to achieve sucess with this strategy. But when i looked at Four Actions Framework (Reduce, Eliminate, Create, Raise) to understand the way of diagnosing and building compelling blue ocean strategy, i was able to see the details of both companies grid to get a clear understanding. Also authors (W. Chan Kim & Rene’e MAuborgne) explained 3 characteristics of good strategy as Focus, Divergence and Tag Line. I never knew before that yellow tail don’t describe the tagline with the winery it was made with. Also, it has  fruit taste which is suitable for daily drinking.
